President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for an official visit to Japan and Singapore, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, promoting trade and investment, and advancing key development priorities.
According to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, President Mahama will begin his visit in Japan, where he will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX). He is expected to deliver a keynote address on fostering trade and investment between Africa and Asia.
The President will also headline the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, where he will outline investment opportunities in Ghana and share insights on the “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
During his stay in Japan, President Mahama will hold high-level bilateral meetings with key stakeholders, including the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), senior officials from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Discussions will focus on trade, infrastructure development, and technical cooperation.
Following his engagements in Japan, President Mahama will proceed to Singapore for a three-day state visit. His itinerary includes a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum.
The President is also expected to address an investment forum in Singapore, where he will present Ghana’s economic reform agenda and highlight strategic investment priorities.
The Presidency emphasized that the visits are intended to attract foreign investment, expand markets for Ghanaian products and services, and foster partnerships in areas such as technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
