A delegation of Chiefs from the Dagbon kingdom has publicly expressed concern over the recent demolition of a warehouse property associated with Dr. Daniel McKorley, widely known as McDan. The action, which took place around Spintex in Accra, has drawn mixed reactions across the country.
Meeting under the authority of Yaa Naa Abukari II, the Chiefs stated that the development has deeply unsettled many in the Northern Region, particularly because of Dr. McKorley’s longstanding relationship with Dagbon and his contributions to the region’s progress.
The group emphasized that McDan’s entrepreneurial success, national influence, and consistent support for traditional leadership should have warranted a more respectful approach in handling any land or property disputes.
“He has said clearly that by giving himself to the people and chiefs of Dagbon, he believes he can help drive meaningful development — not just for the North, but for the entire nation,” one chief remarked.
The chiefs described Dr. McKorley not only as a businessman but also as a statesman, someone who has invested heavily in infrastructure, youth employment, and philanthropy without political bias. They warned that such incidents, if not handled transparently, could discourage investor confidence and public-private collaboration in national development.
They further called on President John Dramani Mahama to initiate an official probe into the demolition, and to ensure that if there were any procedural breaches or excessive force used, they are accounted for appropriately.
The chiefs concluded by encouraging Ghanaians to rise above political divisions and recognize individuals who are genuinely contributing to the country’s progress, stating that development should never be punished.
