The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has a new Board of Directors, inaugurated by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama. The nine-member board, chaired by Hon. Nayon Bilijo, includes notable figures such as Ben Nunoo Mensah, former President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
The new board members are Hon. Nayon Bilijo as Chairperson, Edmond Kombat Esq. as Acting Managing Director, and other members include Mr. Thomas Martey Laari, Mr. Robert Kempes Ofosuhene, Hon. Dr. Sebastian N. Sandaare, Mr. Mugabe Saifu Maase, Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia, Osabarima Kyei Osafo Kantanka, and Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah.
Ben Nunoo Mensah, known for his hands-on leadership and reform-driven mindset, brings a wealth of leadership experience to the board. His appointment underscores the government’s confidence in his ability to contribute to the transformation of TOR, a vital national asset.
Hon. Jinapor emphasized the refinery’s strategic importance to national energy security and tasked the board with restoring TOR to full operational capacity. “Your foremost duty is to get TOR back on stream,” he said. “You must implement bold and strategic actions to return the refinery to profitability. TOR is not just another company; it is a vital national asset.”
Chairman Hon. Nayon Bilijo thanked President Mahama for the trust placed in them and assured the public of the board’s commitment to delivering results. “We are honoured by this appointment and understand the enormity of the task ahead. We will work with urgency and dedication to revive TOR and make it a viable and efficient institution once more.”
The board is expected to develop and present a robust roadmap to address both immediate and long-term issues, ensuring the refinery contributes meaningfully to Ghana’s energy security.
