Former US tennis star and trailblazing sports leader Katrina Adams launched her book, Own The Arena: Getting Ahead, Making a Difference, and Succeeding as the Only One, in Accra as part of a week-long initiative to inspire young people through sports. The event, organized by AFRICA 10, aims to empower African youth through athletic engagement.
Joined by Bahamian Olympian Roger Smith, Adams has been connecting with young tennis players, coaches, and partners across Ghana. The book launch, a highlight of their visit, drew praise from Isaac Aboagye Duah, President of the Ghana Tennis Federation, who commended Adams for her global contributions to tennis and her inspiring journey.
Own The Arena chronicles Adams’ rise as a former professional tennis player and the first African American and youngest leader of the United States Tennis Association. The book offers insights on leadership, confidence, and thriving in challenging environments.
AFRICA 10’s mission to harness sports for youth empowerment across the continent underscored the event, with Adams and Smith engaging local communities to foster aspiration and connection through tennis.
