The Minister for Sports and Recreation,Kofi Iddie Adams says his outfit will liaise with the Ghana Education Service to inculcate the practice of yoga into the extra curricular activities of schools including the school’s sports system.

He said yoga embodies a moment of reflection and a time tested discipline that integrates the mind ,body and spirit for a healthy living and good physical health.
“Yoga has emanated for more than 5000 years and it has endurance, relevance and transformative power that help cure many non communicable diseases,” he stated.
He made these remarks as one of the guest speakers at this year’s International World Yoga Day which was marked at the OSU Castle in Accra last Saturday.
Mr Adams stressed that current sedentary lifestyle of the Ghanaian has brought to the fore the enormous importance of practicing yoga and added that all should embrace it to prevent mental health crisis.
The Minister for Tourism, Dzifa Ablah Gomashie called lauded India for bringing yoga as a gift to the world.
She stressed the cultural significance of yoga saying it embodies some aspects of the nations cultural values of calmness and serenity.
She charged stakeholders to weave the nation’s culture around the practice to attract patrons and customers.
For his part the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana His Excellency Manish Gupta stressed the unending bond between Ghana and India and maintained that the two countries will grow from strength to strength.
He charged the Ghanaian Youth to practice yoga for a healthy living.
The event attracted over 100 practitioners mostly Indians who were taken through the different and various forms of yoga by different groups of instructors.
It ended with socialisation and refreshments.
