Araujo Optimistic About Barcelona’s European Prospects Next Season

Ronald Araujo is optimistic that Barcelona, fresh from securing a domestic treble by clinching LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España, possesses the capability to capture the Champions League trophy in the upcoming season.

Thousands of fans celebrated Barcelona’s triumph with a victory parade from Camp Nou to the Arc de Triomf on Friday, just a day after they secured their 28th Spanish top-flight title with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol.

The Blaugrana have now claimed 12 league titles since the turn of the century, three more than their rivals Real Madrid, and they trail only Bayern Munich, who have 18, among Europe’s top five leagues. Despite falling short in the Champions League semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Inter on aggregate with a score of 7-6, Araujo is confident that the team will perform better in Europe next season.

“We’re very happy; we deserve it. The team and the fans deserve it. Nobody was betting on us at the beginning of the season, and we have won three titles,” Araujo remarked during the open-bus parade, speaking to Barca One.

“People are excited about this team because there is excellent potential. We may have missed out on the Champions League this time, but we will achieve it.”

Barcelona last lifted the Champions League trophy in 2015, when a formidable attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar led them to victory against Juventus in the final.

Hansi Flick’s team is set to face Villarreal in LaLiga on Saturday, before concluding their campaign against Athletic Bilbao next week.
