Linda Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has expressed concern that the ongoing rejection of nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) roles could hinder progress in the affected regions.
Her remarks came in the wake of the Ada East District Chief Executive nominee’s failure to achieve the necessary two-thirds majority vote.
In a statement to the press following the voting on May 8, 2025, Ocloo urged nominees to proactively engage with assembly members prior to the confirmation process to enhance their likelihood of success.
“If you delay the confirmation, you delay development and progress. They have initiated numerous improvements. If the DCE is in position, he can advocate for some of the assembly members to be employed.
“But if the DCE is not in position, they will have to go through either the district coordinators or another avenue, which will cause delays,” she cautioned.
