Ghanaian Highlife and Afrobeats musician-songwriter King Promise has expressed his confidence in winning the Artist of the Year award at the 26th Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
In an appearance on United Showbiz, King Promise shared his thoughts on the prestigious award, stating, “The funny thing is, I have always been interested in the Artist of the Year award, but I’m not very vocal about it on the internet. I believe in letting my work speak for itself. However, I’ve learned that sometimes you need to amplify your efforts. That’s the real difference in what I’m doing now. I’m still working hard, but this time, I’m making it clear that this is what I’m doing and that it deserves recognition. It’s beautiful to see that with just a little bit of me stepping forward and saying, ‘Okay, this is what I want,’ the response from the people has been incredible. It feels like we’re aligned; they just needed me to voice my aspirations. My interest in the award has always been there; it’s just my approach that has changed.”
During the show, Ola Michael, a guest on the program, posed a question to King Promise: “What if you don’t win the Artist of the Year this time? How would you feel?” King Promise confidently replied, “I won’t put that energy into the universe because I believe the award won’t slip through my fingers” he said.
The 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025. The event will be held at the Grand Arena Accra International Conference Center.
