The McDan Group of Companies has committed to renovating the Mamprobi Sampe 1 Cluster of Schools in a two-phase project aimed at improving the school’s infrastructure and ensuring a safer learning environment for students.
On Saturday, March 8, 2024, MacDan CEO, Dr. Daniel Nii Nshia McKorley led a delegation to assess the school’s condition. He was joined by the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Hon. Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije; the Sampe Mantse, Nii Adotey Otintor, and his elders; as well as Queen Mothers Manye Suumoo II and Manye Naa Anyaado I of Latebiokoshie and Manye Naa Ahemaa Ablade Oklopong I, Ga Noryaa Manye.
Dr. McKorley, who had previously visited the school, stressed the urgency of the renovation, noting that the deteriorating structures posed risks to students and staff. He reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the problem swiftly to prevent any potential hazards.
The project’s first phase will focus on refurbishing two dilapidated school blocks. Additionally, the school’s perimeter wall will be reconstructed, and the main gate will be replaced to enhance security on the premises.
Hon. Dr. Oko Vanderpuije commended the initiative, acknowledging that while the refurbishment was long overdue, its commencement was a positive step toward improving education in the community. He expressed confidence that the renovation would have a lasting impact on students and teachers.
The Sampe Mantse, Nii Adotey Otintor, emphasized his dedication to the project, revealing that he had previously discussed the school’s state with Dr. McKorley, who assured him of support. He also urged Ga-Adangbe business owners to invest in their communities by helping to restore educational and public facilities.
Manye Naa Suumo 1 Mamprobi, present at the visit drew attention to the broader issue of deteriorating schools in the area, highlighting the Mamprobi Girls’ School and the Market School as institutions in need of urgent refurbishment. They appealed to individuals and organizations, particularly those with Ga-Adangbe heritage, to contribute to improving infrastructure in Accra.
Expressing appreciation for the project, Manye Naa Ahemaa Ablade Oklopong 1, Ga Noryaa Manye lauded the collaborative effort between the Sampe Mantse, McDan, and the MP, describing it as a testament to their compassion and commitment to community development. She called on the public to recognize and support such initiatives.
Once completed, the renovation of the Mamprobi Sampe 1 Cluster of Schools is expected to significantly enhance the learning environment, demonstrating the vital role of public-private partnerships in community development.
At the Ayaalolo cluster of schools, which struggled with a persistent water problem for over five years, the issue has now been resolved by the McDan Group of Companies, allowing the school to enjoy a steady flow of water through its pipes.
