Ghanaians are eagerly awaiting the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, scheduled for today,March 11.
This will be the first major economic blueprint of the Mahama administration since it took office.
The highly anticipated budget is expected to outline critical policy directions and economic strategies aimed at stabilizing the economy, fostering growth and addressing the country’s ongoing fiscal challenges.
A key highlight of the budget is the anticipated removal of several controversial taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), the COVID-19 Health Levy, and the Betting Tax.
These levies, introduced by the previous government, faced significant backlash for placing additional financial strain on Ghanaians.
The Mahama administration has made it clear that it aims to reduce the tax burden on individuals and businesses while implementing measures to stimulate economic recovery.
The removal of these taxes is expected to provide much-needed relief to mobile money users, businesses, and individuals involved in online betting.
Beyond tax policy, the budget is also expected to focus on job creation, infrastructure development, and social interventions designed to improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians.
