The Veterans Table Tennis Association Ghana (VTTAG) has officially launched a national league aimed at promoting table tennis among veterans.
The decentralized league, which kicked off last Saturday, currently encompasses five regions: Western, Central, Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti. The league’s primary objective is to spark national interest and participation in table tennis among veterans.
According to VTTAG, anyone aged 40 and above can participate in the league. Interested individuals can register by calling the dedicated line: 0240968079.
At the launch last Saturday in a brief but colourful ceremony at the Seven Great Princes Academy at Dansoman in Accra, president of VTTAG, Christopher King, stated that his outfit aims to make the sport a national pastime.
“Table tennis has been touted as the best racquet sport, promoting health, longevity, and mental agility. VTTAG emphasizes that the sport is an excellent way to stay young and active, aligning with their motto: “Forever Young.”,” he stated.
The league will be played biweekly in the various regions, and participants do not need to be affiliated with a club or team. Players can simply show up with their racquet, register, and compete.
“VTTAG invites all interested veterans to join the league and be ranked. With its inclusive and accessible approach, the association aims to make table tennis a staple activity for veterans across Ghana,” Mr King stated.

The league season will award points to participants based on their position on the league table at the end of the season. The points range from 200 for the first position to 40 for the 20th position.
