The Silver Stage Social Centre marked a major milestone on Thursday 6th February, 2025 with its first-anniversary celebration, held at The Calvary Presbyterian Church in Haatso.
The Main Speaker – Rev. Edwin Tetteh-Bio during his speech encouraged senior cictizens to inculcate all they have in them into the younger generation since that will go a long way to reshape the future.
A special guest of the event, Vivian Gadzekpo used the occasion to call on government to prioritize the country’s old age policy, stressing its importance in addressing the needs of Ghana’s elderly population. She went further to highlight some points being a possible subsidy when it comes to hospital bills of aged and senior citizens amongst others.
The chairman of the centre also addressed the gathering, highlighting the personal benefits of joining the club. He noted that members stand to gain from adjusting their eating habits, overcoming loneliness, and establishing a regular body exercise routine, among other benefits.
The event featured an array of activities, including pick and act, bodily exercises, and networking opportunities, which brought together members of the centre and other stakeholders.
As the Silver Stage Social Centre looks to the future, its members and stakeholders are optimistic that the government will take action on the old age policy, ensuring that the needs of Ghana’s elderly are met and their contributions to society are recognized.
