Maame Efua Houadjeto has been named the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority by President John Dramani Mahama.
She succeeds Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, who stepped down from his position last week.
Maame Efua Houadjeto has a notable political history, having previously served as the Deputy Women’s Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and campaigning as the party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 elections.
The departure of Kwasi Agyeman from his role as CEO of GTA was met with enthusiastic applause, indicating that Maame Efua will take on a significant responsibility in her new role.
